Why is Verified by GS1 replacing the GEPIR service?

The importance of reliable and high-quality product and company information is continuously increasing. That is why we at GS1 are always developing our portfolio of global data services for our customers. The changeover from our GEPIR service to the Verified by GS1 service at the turn of the year marks a milestone on this path. 

With Verified by GS1 you can verify GTINs and query product master data via the global and cloud-based GS1 Registry Platform. Since 1 January 2024, it's also possible to verify GLNs and query company and location data. Verified by GS1 offers many additional advantages, including an extended search function (search by GTIN, GLN, company name, other keys), improved performance and simpler connection (REST-API rather than SOAP web service).

What are the new benefits Verified by GS1 offers?

With Verified by GS1 you can verify GTINs and query product master data via the global and cloud-based GS1 Registry Platform. Following the implementation of new functionalities, it is now also possible to verify GLNs and query company and location data via Verified by GS1. with the changeover, Verified by GS1 offers many additional advantages, including an extended search function (search by GTIN, GLN, company name, other keys), improved performance and simpler connection (REST-API rather than SOAP web service).

Use Verified by GS1 now! The service is available at www.verified-by-gs1.de and its use is free of charge during a six-month transition period. After successful registration, you can get to know the Verified by GS1 service and use it to conveniently verify data.

FAQs for GEPIR users

The Verified by GS1 service covers the existing basic functionalities of GEPIR and expands them together with improved performance. For example, the service offers users extended search functions (search by GTIN, GLN, company name, other keys), better performance and simpler connection (REST-API rather than SOAP web service).

The Verified by GS1 service will be available to our GEPIR Premium customers and all interested companies from January 2024. The changeover offers many advantages, including an extended search function (search by GTIN, GLN, company name, other keys), improved performance and simpler connection (REST-API rather than SOAP web service). All customers have already been informed of the changes in writing. If you did not receive any information, please contact our customer service.

The information in GEPIR will be kept up to date until the end of December 2023, after which GEPIR will remain in place with the current database until end of January 2024, but will no longer be updated.

With Verified by GS1, you still have the opportunity to make 30 queries per day free of charge.

You can access the data via WebUI, Excel import and export, or via API.

You can already verify GTINs and query product data (7 attributes) today. From January 1, 2024, you will also have the option to verify GLNs and query company and location data.

Verified by GS1 is a service for checking and verifying the identity and ownership of products, companies and locations.

The data for Verified by GS1 is provided by members of GS1 who use GS1 identifiers, in particular GTINs and GLNs in their business. The GTIN information, for example, always comes from the brand owner.

The data is stored in the Global Registry Platform, meaning high-performance access to it is possible at any time and from anywhere.
